OUBAOER Automatic OB2003A

A very clean-looking automatic watch, with a square case!
The movement is also visible through the front, and looks very nice.

Review video is at the bottom of this page.

Overall design

This focus on this watch is clearly on the design, and the design is clean, without any clutter or distractions.
The only numbers you can see on this watch, are the minute markers around the edge of the dial.
I chose the black version of this watch, as i found it to look the most interesting. Black in combination with white and yellow looks both clean and good in my opinion.

Case

The case is made of stainless steel, but is painted black (also comes in Silver and Rose Gold) . The case is 40 mm in size and 12 mm thick. It’s has a square shape with rounded edges. All edges (top, sides and bottom) are rounded, so there’s no sharp edges here.

The back of the case has a window, so the movement with all the wheels etc are visible.

The watch including bands weigh about 130 grams, which is good for the size of it. Not too light and not heavy.

Dial

The glass is made of Hardlex, is flat and the shape is square with rounded edges.
From a distance it doesn’t look like there are much details on the dial, but there’s actually a lot going on there. Most details are black, so it’s not easy to see from far away. Have a look at the pictures (or video) and you’ll see for yourself.

Hours are marked with white colour, but no text. Minutes are in small white text around the edge, on a slight angle, and are in my opinion mostly decorative, as they’re not very easy to read.
Hour and minute hands are white with a silver edge, while the hand for seconds is bright yellow.
The yellow seconds hand stands out a bit, and makes the design look more interesting.

The lume is bright and very nice, although it doesn’t last very long. Check out the picture below.

Automatic

The automatic winding works well and keeps the watch going, without stopping at night.
I tried finding the brand of the movement, but there was nothing written on the visible parts of the movement.

In a period of 24 hours, the watch lost about 12 seconds. (The watch was not winded manually in the period of testing).

Bands

Material is stainless steel, and they have the exact same colour as the case itself.

Clasps are of the butterfly type with buttons to release. They work very well, and haven’t come loose even once by accident.
Quality is good, and the butterfly clasp makes it very easy to take it on and off. During testing the clasp has stayed locked, without any problems.

Conclusion

I like the overall design of this watch. The look is consistent all over, and looks very clean and good.
Colours match very well, and the yellow seconds-hand is a nice detail regarding colours.
The skeleton/transparent case also gives the watch a nice advanced look without looking cluttered.
There’s no numbers (except minutes) on the watch, but that’s not really a problem. People who use such watches knows how to read the time without it. The only complain may be that there’s no date wheel…

Pros

Clean and nice design
Unique design, square case.
Colour combination
Automatic works very good
Date window

Cons

No date
No numbers (except minutes). This could also be a Pro, as the lack of numbers keep the design cleaner.
