Design

The speaker is compact and comes with an aluminum body, while the front is covered with a material that has a soft rubberized feel to it. The overall material quality is very good and it feels like a premium product.

You can easily bring this speaker with you since it’s so compact and light weight.

Connectivity

With Bluetooth 4.2 you can wirelessly connect the speaker to you phone, tablet or PC. We tested with Samsung Galaxy S8, S6 Edge, Macbook Pro, and a Asus laptop, and streamed music without any problems. If you don’t want to use wireless, it has an AUX-in port for cabled connectivity.

Sadly there’s no slot for memory cards.

All the ports are located on the back of the speaker, while on the front you can find a LED that shows connectivity status.

Micro usb is used for charging and the speaker can be used while it’s charging.

The power button and volume buttons are located on the top of the speaker, and they are made of aluminum.

Xiaomi also included a microphone so you can receive and make phone calls. When there’s a incomming call you can answer by pushing the power button, and push it again to hang up the call.

Audio quality

The speaker deliveres very good quality for such a compact size. I did not expect the bass and power it deliveres. Even more surprising is the fact that there is no distortion, even at 100% volume.

The bass is powerfull enough that the whole speaker shakes at 100% (watch the video).

I also compared it to the speakers on the Macbook Pro, and the Xiaomi outperformes it easily.

Battery

The battery size is 1200 mAh, and should last about 10 hours at 40% volume, while using Bluetooth connectivity.

Conclusion

The speaker looks and feels premium, and the material quality is very good! Sound quality is also surpricingly good for a speaker of this size. The possibility to answer phone calls directly on the speaker is also very nice.

Value for money is high, so I recommend this speaker to anyone who wants a portable speaker!
