QCY T5 Review
When buying the T5 we get two earphones, a charging case and extra rubber buds in different sizes. There’s also an English manual included.
Both the case and the earphones are made of plastic and feels well enough built. It doesn’t exactly feel premium, but for the price it’s good.
The case has a built-in 380 mAh battery, that can charge the earphones 4-5 times, but it does not support quick charge, so don’t use a newer phone charger to charge the case!
The size of the case is small enough that it will fit in a pocket.
Even though the T3 earphones do not look as good as the T5, they are more comfortable to wear, and sit perfectly in the ear for long periods without any discomfort.
These are IPX4 sweat and water resistant, and they have a Audiowise bluetooth 5 chip, which is said to be better for gaming. They say that the delay is reduced to as little as 65 ms during gaming, and to activate the gaming mode you must tap the right earphone 3 times.
The gaming mode is actually quite good.
On the front is a touch sensitive area for controlling music, and it works quite well.
To control music we have the following functions:
- Tap twice to play or pause. We can do this on both the left and right earphone.
- Hold on the left to go back or to the previous song.
- Hold the right to go to the next song.
- Tap three times on the left earphone to open the assistant.
- To active Gaming Mode tap three times on the right earphone.
Since the QCY T5 are in-ear style earphones, you do have to push them a bit into the ears for them to sit firmly. Personally I’ve gotten used to this, so it’s not uncomfortable at all.
The stem going down the side of the ear, also helps a bit to hold the earphones in place, so they sit nicely in place all the time while using them, and they are very comfortable to wear for longer periods.
Regarding the battery on the earphones, they are a bit strange. Usually wireless earphones will last a certain amount of hours for each charge at the same volume, but the T5s have lasted me anything from 3 to 4 and a half hours while listening to music. And the left earphone usually last about 20 minutes longer than the right one.
Anyway, the sound quality of the T5s is quite good and they sound nice. But they do lack a bit of bass, and the mids and highs sound a bit high for my liking. A bit of tweaking in the equalizer makes them sound better, so the overall sound quality is good. Even though they don’t have enough bass, the sound is nice. There is some bass, but it’s just not very powerful.
I’m also able to play at max volume without blowing my eardrums, but it is of course too high for comfort. At very high volume, there’s also a little bit of distortion in the highs.
The gaming mode is not bad at all. When it’s switched on, after triple tapping the right earphone, it’s a lot better to play games. The earphones will also beep, to confirm that Gaming mode is active. I’ve tried in PubG, and it is very playable. There’s still a short delay, but it’s something I can accept, and it’s not bothering me while playing.
Overall a good product, but I wish they had more bass.
